Acelet-Explorer: Cross platform file manager for Linux, Solaris and Windows

Acelet-Explorer is a cross-platform file manager, a file explorer. Acelet-Explorer is part of Acelet-Desktop. It is freeware: free to use, free to distribute. It will be open source later.

It is an alternative to Windows Explorer, Nautilus and Konqueror. Acelet-Explorer runs on all platforms which support Java. On Unix or Linux, Acelet-Explorer runs in either KDE or GNOME.

Acelet-Explorer will be easier for migrating from Windows to Linux and back. If you are familiar with Windows, you will be comfortable on Linux or Solaris.

The audience:

• users who migrate from Windows to Linux.
• users working on all operating systems. Especially when you have a Windows station and work on Linux or Solaris servers.

The differences between Acelet-Explorer and Windows-Explorer

The main differences are (compare to Windows Explorer of Windows XP):

• There is a conformation window for each user action. For example, when you drag a file to a different folder, a confirmation window will popup. I, myself, often drag files to a wrong directory accidentally, then regret. With conformation window, I will make less mistakes.
• More user friendly, especially for searching, navigate back-forward.
• Different Trash (Windows Recycle-bin) system.
• Faster than Windows Explorer.

• Windows XP.
• Ubuntu Linux.
