Super Watchdog EE: Event-action task scheduler for all
application job scheduling
Super Watchdog EE (Enterprise Edition) is an event-action task scheduler supporting J2EE, Java EE
job scheduling. When it is
scheduled for J2EE, Java EE, tasks, or set a J2EE, Java EE trigger, it runs as a client of your
J2EE, Java EE, application server. It runs in its own JVM and never interferes the
state of your J2EE, Java EE, server. Super Watchdog EE is also an SOA
(Service-Oriented Architecture) tool by
supporting Webservice job scheduling.
Super Watchdog EE is the twin software of
Super Scheduler EE,
which is timer-action system.
Super Watchdog EE is entirely written in Java. It is platform neutral and J2EE,
Java EE,
vendor neutral.
In this document, the term trigger and event are
interchangeable. The same is true for action and chore.
Main Features
- It fully supports distributed computing environment. You can use
Super Watchdog EE on any machine in the network at any time, either on J2EE,
Java EE,
server machines or on client machines. Many instances of Super Watchdog
EE
can run at the same time while a chore will be triggered once and only once
at the trigger time. All instances of Super Watchdog EE share up-to-date
information automatically and promptly (default is two seconds).
- It fails-over. If any instance of Super Watchdog is down or busy,
others will pick up the slack.
- It fully supports J2EE, Java EE, clustering environment. The scheduled J2EE,
Java EE,
application can be on any server in the network. It uses J2EE, Java EE, server's load
balancing and fail-over facilities to arrange J2EE, Java EE, chores.
- It is scalable: if one instance of Super Watchdog EE is too busy, you
can always add another machine to run another instance of Super Watchdog
EE. All
instances of Super Watchdog EE load-balance themselves in a natural way.
- It supports many types jobs: Email, EJB, Servlet/JSP, Shutdown Super and Web service (as Java or Operating System jobs). It also
support composite jobs and retry jobs as well.
- It supports many types of triggers: File timestamp, JMS Queue, JMS
Topic, MBean notification and User defined triggers.
- It has a built-in GUI tool for managing and monitoring chores. Monitoring
windows refresh themselves automatically and promptly. It allows you to
suspend chores, reactive chores and run chores immediately.
- It allows you to visually set EJB chores using
EasyEJB.
- It allows you to visually set JMS chores using
EasyJMS.
- It allows you to visually set MBean (JMX) chores using
EasyJMX.
- It allows you to visually set Web Service chores using
EasyWebservice.
- It logs major chore related events. It provides history facilities.
- It supports a running period for all chores.
- A chore runs on a desired machine if specified.
- All chores can be programmatically controlled by simple Java API or
any other program (like C/C++).
- It works well if your network crosses through many time zones.
- It provides a lightweight daemon for non graphic environment.
