Menu Commands

Action Properties Panel

This panel allows you to specify property values of an action of workflow, as the editor of the action. This panel is also be used to show running status and results of workflow. In that case, it is read only, showing property values of the action.

Only available data items will be shown. When this panel is read only, no data can be edited.

Task name: The name of the task this action for. This can not be empty.

Select: This button opens Task Table Panel for you to select a task.

Id: The name for this action. It must be a unique name within this workflow.

Description: The description of this action. This is a comment. It does not affect the execution.

Icon file name: The file name for the icon.

Browse: Opens a file chooser for you to choose an icon file.

Status: The status of this action. It is not editable.

Result: The result printout of this action.

Workflow: If the action is a sub-workflow, this button will be enabled. This button will open another Workflow Panel for the sub-workflow.

Ok: Saves the specified value and closes this panel.

Cancel: Closes this panel and discard all changes.

 

Border Width Panel

This panel allows you to specify the width (in dots) of  the border of cells.

Width: The width.

 

Image Attribute Panel

This panel allows you to specify image attribute when you export the workflow to an image.

Insets: The insets (margins) for the image.

Make background transparent: Check it if you want the exported image with transparent background. This is for applicable image format only.

Ok: Saves the values and closed this panel.

Cancel: Closes this panel and discard all changes.

 

Task Table Panel

This panel lists all available tasks. It allows you to select a task.

Ok: Picks the highlighted task and closes this panel.

Cancel: Closes this panel without doing anythind.

 

Transition Width Panel

This panel allows you to specify the width of the transition.

Width: The width.

 

Workflow Panel

This panel allows you to do workflow, or to view workflow as read only.

There is a menu at the top, followed by a toolbar. The main area is for drawing the workflow.

Toolbar

When you move your mouse to a tool and stay there for a couple seconds, you will see a small text window (Tool tip). That is the name of the tool.

Draw tools

The left section of the toolbar is for draw tools.

When you click on a draw tool to select a tool, you start the select-draw process. Your cursor changes to corresponding one, which is an arrow overlaying with the picture of the tool. The cursor indicates that you are in select-draw process. You can move your mouse to a desired place and click your mouse. The graphic item will be drawn there. The cursor returns to be the default cursor. The select-draw process ends. If you want to draw another graphic item, either the same type or not, you need to select a tool again.

Select tool: The Select tool is for selecting cells and transitions. It stops the drawing process. For example, if you clicked on the Action tool, ant you regret, you can click this tool to cancel the process which draws Action. When Select tools is chosen, the cursor is the default cursor.

Action tool: The Action tool is for drawing a rectangle. The rectangle is called as Cell on the chart. It represents an Action of the workflow. The name Cell and Action are interchangeable in this document.

Transition tool: The Transition is a straight line between two rectangles representing the relationship of the two cells. Transition may be called Edge for the underlying software. Sometimes you may see the word Edge instead of Transition, they are interchangeable.

Orthogonal transition tool: The Orthogonal transition is a Transition. It looks different for convenience. It functions as the same as an ordinary Transition.

Text tool: The Text is for drawing a borderless rectangle. It is for comments. It does not affect the execution of the workflow.

Other tools

The right section of the toolbar is for other tools. These tools are duplicated from their counterparts of menu items. 

 

Workflow Preference Panel

This panel allows you specify preferences.

Auto resize: Check this if you want each cell be automatically resize to fit the length of the Id text.

Border width: The width (pixels) of the border for each cell.

Transition width: The width (pixels) of the transition (the line between two cells).

End size: The size of the end of a transition. It the size of the arrow.

Font: The font for Id text. It is chosen by clicking the button Set next to the field.

Horizontal text position: The horizontal text position for each cell.

Metric: Check this if you want the unit of length be Metric instead of English (inches).

Grid Mode: The mode of grid. If you choose a grid mode, the background of the Workflow Panel will be with that grid.

Grid size: The size of the grid.

Show grid: Check this if you want to see grid.

Grid Mode: The mode of grid. If you choose a grid mode, the background of the Workflow Panel will be with that grid.

Grid size: The size of the grid.

Reset: Resets all values to default values.

Ok: Saves changes and closes this panel.

Cancel: Discards changes and closes this panel.
